Our EFV CDN launched: scheduled route switching saves over 50% in operating costs; live-stream scrolling comments added

This feature was developed for operation: cdn nodes and a cdn controller allow hundreds of vps servers to serve as CDN segment nodes. Combined with scheduled route switching, operating costs can be reduced by more than 50%. This is a carefully prepared addition. The CDN not only caches EFV segments but also offers a production-oriented image-processing API, converting images to arbitrary dimensions in webp, jpg or png format.

Updates

  • One: Added live-stream scrolling comments. Comments sent from the player appear in the chat room, and chat-room comments also appear over the video, creating a genuine scrolling-comment live room.
  • Two: Separated the user-related module for easier customization.
  • Three: Subtitle extraction now processes only srt and ass, skipping other formats for better compatibility.
  • Four: Fixed downloading from the built-in CMS failing to assemble encrypted segments into mp4. Improved /apifluent/savestream, which assembles a video's m3u8 into mp4, to support encrypted m3u8 playlists.
  • Five: Real-time previews before transcoding now display video codecs, audio codecs and subtitle-stream information. Check whether an mkv contains subtitles and see their formats and languages before selecting videos for transcoding.
  • Six: Added scheduled route switching. Our tests found ordinary servers generally provide sufficient bandwidth for HD, but external networks become congested during 9:30—12:30. Configure one route to start at 9:30 PM and another at 12:30 AM: use a better, more expensive CDN route during the peak and a cheaper route afterward. Combined with our new [H0H] system, this can save more than [H1H] in operating costs.
  • Seven: Our CDN system installs automatically through scripts and consists of a CDN node system and CDN control-center system. Scripts on the CDN controller can add and remove nodes remotely and automatically. The controller shows every CDN node's bandwidth, CPU and disk usage. This CDN system offers segment caching, zero-configuration installation and an image-processing API similar to Qiniu's. Set a sufficiently long cache duration and CDN nodes can even serve as cloud-storage centers, receiving segments at CDN nodes without separate uploads. Simply change the route in EFVCMS to the CDN domain and leave the rest to the scripts. This cdn system remains free permanently, with ongoing updates and maintenance.

#参数详解
url为海报地址,已经做了白名单,仅支持wmdb.querydata.org中的图片处理。
