EFVCMS operator accounts with layered permissions and an open-source desktop app for detailed collaboration

At existing users' request, we added layered administration permissions. Accounts can receive operator permissions, enforced at the routing layer for security. I also developed an operator desktop application for macos and windows. Only operator accounts can sign in. It supports uploading videos and srt/ass subtitles, editing or deleting videos and adding downloads. Optimized multithreaded uploads are 3 to 6 times faster than web uploads. Every operation requires permissions granted by an administrator. The desktop application is fully open source: build and distribute it to operators. This provides an advanced subordinate-administrator system.

Updates

  • One: Advanced now grants operator accounts selected management permissions with route-level checks. Operators can only perform authorized operations, currently uploading videos/subtitles, editing video details, deleting videos and adding downloads. Contact support to suggest additional permissions.
  • Two: Downloads now support editing their category, automatically categorizing them on completion.
  • Three: Added the operator desktop application with video/subtitle uploads, video editing and deletion, and download-task creation. Every successful file upload generates a notification. The system can expand indefinitely; contact support if the operator workstation needs more features.
